Private Health Class Policy

We are writing to inform you of some important changes regarding the process for claiming group classes through your Private Health Fund. These adjustments have been made to ensure compliance with the latest regulations set by private health funds, APA and AHPRA. If you do not intend to claim your classes through your Private Health Fund, these changes will not apply to you.

New Requirements for Claiming Group Classes:

Starting immediately (17/02/25), any new passes or single sessions purchased must meet the following criteria in order to be eligible for claims through your Private Health Fund:

  1. Initial Assessment: If you have not previously completed a 1-on-1 initial assessment, this will now be required. Our physiotherapists—Tamara, Taylor, and Sophie—are available to conduct these assessments. The initial assessment lasts 45 minutes and, upon completion, you will receive a credit for either 2 Mat Classes or 1 Equip Class. During your session, we will:

    • Discuss any specific health concerns or injuries

    • Explain the class format

    • Teach you how to identify neutral spine alignment

    • Use a real-time ultrasound machine to assess core muscle activation to ensure you know how to properly engage your core muscles (without over bracing the trunk

    • Set goals for the classes

    • Identify any modifications or safety precautions

  2. Ongoing Assessments: To remain compliant with Private Health Fund requirements, we ask that you book a 6-month review with a physiotherapist. This will help us reassess your progress, set goals and ensure that your exercise plan remains appropriate. These reviews are essential for continued eligibility for private health rebates.

To make this easier for you, we will automatically schedule a follow-up assessment 6 months after your last appointment.

Frequently Asked Questions:

  • What happens if I do not attend a review appointment every 6 months? You will still be able to attend our group classes, but you will no longer be eligible to claim your sessions through your Private Health Fund.

  • Do I need to book a review assessment if I’ve seen a physiotherapist for treatment during that time?
No, you do not need a separate review assessment if you’ve already had a physiotherapy session within the last 6 months. As long as you’ve been assessed by a physiotherapist within that period, you remain compliant.

  • What if I see a physiotherapist at a different clinic?
To remain compliant with our Private Health Fund requirements, both the initial and review assessments must be completed by a physiotherapist. If you are referred to our classes by a physiotherapist from another clinic, they must provide an initial handover letter and a review letter every 4-6 months to ensure continued compliance.
